The role of the funeral director
Rowland Brothers are here to help you with every aspect of the funeral. Typically, in addition to caring for the deceased at our chapel of rest, our role might involve some or all of the following:
- booking the church and/or crematorium/cemetery
- liaising with ministers and other funeral officials
- selecting the service format eg religious or nondenominational?
- choosing the music, eg a choir, an organist or CDs?
- organising transport to and from the service
- Selecting a coffin
- arranging flowers and catering
- sourcing the printing of service sheets
- arranging newspaper obituary notices and charity donations
In short, we’re here to take as much of the burden from you as you want us to, during what is sure to be a difficult and distressing time.
We are available during evenings and weekends as well as during normal office hours.
Burial or cremation?
If the deceased hasn’t made their wishes known on this issue your choice of funeral is obviously an important decision for the family to make and can be a difficult one.
Your funeral director will be able to advise you about the various options including the increasingly popular ‘green’ funerals with cardboard coffins, and woodland burials.
If there’s to be a cremation we can hold the deceased’s ashes for you until you have made a decision about what to do with them. We can even arrange to have them transported to anywhere in the world.
